MidState Precast Begins Production for New Sports/Entertainment Arena
Pasadena - 08/28/2007
MidState Precast was awarded a contract to provide structural precast concrete components and erection services for the City of Ontario's new $130 million dollar sports and entertainment arena under construction in Ontario. The 11,000-seat Citizens Business Bank Arena will be a state-of-the-art, major league ready venue serving the dynamic Inland Empire and Greater Los Angeles communities. This new facility, which is owned by the City of Ontario and will be operated by AEG, fulfills the region's need for a premier venue for basketball, ice hockey, concerts and variety of sporting, community and family events.
MidState Precast is producing 1,122 pieces of precast including columns, beams, rakers, stadia and walls for the 225,000-square-foot arena. The structural precast system utilizes the innovative Precast Hybrid Moment Resistant Frame (PHMRF)ΒΈ which is design to withstand the forces of a significant seismic event. This is the first use of the hybrid frame in an arena project.
The arena will include 9,500 fixed seats with additional "portable" seating risers to accommodate capacities of 11,089 for concerts, 9,736 for ice hockey and 10,831 for basketball, 36 luxury suites located on two levels, concession and merchandise stands and a VIP club.
The project is expected to be complete in fall of 2008. Project team members in addition to MidState include Turner Construction (construction manager), Englekirk & Sabol (structural engineers) and Rossetti (architect).
