Architectural Precast Concrete
Midstate provides an unlimited variety of shapes, tone, texture, color and finish, to achieve the unique visual expression of your project. Architectural precast products can be engineered as load or non-load bearing.
Precast or prestressed columns and beams offer design and fireproofing flexibility for building or parking structure projects. The inherent durability characteristics and construction speed offer a high quality, low-cost alternative to other systems.
Prestressed structural members that meet the design requirements for long spans on buildings or warehouses. The fireproofing advantage, inherent durability characteristics and construction speed combined with reduced site form/shore cost offers a high quality, low-cost alternative to other systems.
Precast box culverts are one of the most cost effective and versatile products available. The product is used for underpasses, steam culverts, bridges, tunnels or storage. With superior durability, quality and ease of installation, box culverts can meet a project's environmental, aesthetic and budget needs.
Concrete Brick or stone cladding combines a traditional appearance with the durability, quality and speed of precast concrete. Brick or stone material is integrated with columns, spandrels or cladding during the manufacturing process, eliminating the need for scaffolding and field laying brick. This efficient system results in an overall project savings of time and money.
Structural Stadium Components
Precast concrete is the best value solution for stadium structures. Due to tight schedules and superior quality requirements, mass production of standard risers, rakers, columns, planks and vomitory walls eliminates costly site form work and shoring, resulting in a project savings of time and money.
Curvilinear or radius products manufactured on custom forms to meet any unique project specifications. trim overall project cost.
Insulated/Precast Wall Panels
Insulated wall panels consist of two concrete wythes with a layer of insulation sandwiched between the wythes. R-values are determined by the thickness of the insulation. Panels can be designed as load bearing or non-load bearing and have a variety of features, colors and textures.
Justice Facilities Components
recast concrete has proven to be the favored material for jails, prisons, juvenile halls and other justice facilities. Due to the security benefits associated with these building types, typical precast products such as Y-walls, cell walls, insulated walls and plank are standard for panelized construction. One, two and four-cell precast concrete module units reduce field costs to trim overall project cost.
A crucial factor in building value is to constantly explore new and better products, means and methods of building. Midstate Precast is founded on innovation and actively supports the PCI ndustry-advancing research, both through sponsorship of research entities and our own efforts. We continue to seek out research projects to improve existing technologies.
Areas of concrete technology in which Midstate Precast focuses its leading-edge efforts include:
Midstate Precast uses high-strength (up to 8000 psi) concrete in precast seismic resistant elements and is working with the American Concrete Institute (ACI) to allow even higher strength concrete seismic elements.
Midstate Precast has developed the capability to bring the benefits of cement replacements, including fly-ash, into its products. Our company also follows LEAN manufacturing standards.
Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC)
Self-compacting concrete can lead to lower placement costs and higher quality concrete in the finished product and is well suited to the precast manufacturing market. Midstate Precast is encouraging the use of this technology in its products and is working with admixture manufacturers through trial batch and testing programs to improve the mix designs for self-compacting concrete.
Midstate Precast is working with manufacturers of fiber, including carbon fiber, to develop concrete mixes, as well as mixing and placing techniques, to enable concrete to take advantage of the beneficial characteristics of fiber in the design of concrete elements.
Midstate has participated in batching and casting trials with fiber manufacturers and continues to seek opportunities to incorporate fiber-reinforced concrete in precast components.
Precast Hybrid Moment Resistant Frame (PHMRF)
The PHMRF is a revolutionary structural system that provides an economical method for bringing all of the cost, schedule and quality aspects of precast concrete into the lateral load resisting elements of a building. Midstate Precast has been integral in the development and application of this system.
Working with Charles Pankow Builders, Ltd., Midstate has produced PHMRF columns and beams for buildings in the Los Angeles and San Francisco markets including parking structures, office buildings and apartment buildings ranging from three to 39 stories.
A precast, prestressed concrete beam that is I-shaped to minimize the weight, thereby reducing the cost of transportation.
Bullet-Absorbing Precast Concrete
Bullet-absorbing concrete is designed to absorb the kinetic energy of projectiles in a controlled fashion without cracking, splitting or ricocheting. Midstate Precast fabricated and erected precast panels of SACON®, a low-density, fiber-reinforced, foamed concrete developed by the Structures Laboratory at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in association with Ballistics Technology, Inc.
